Kelly Ripa - My Fitness Idol

I adore Kelly Ripa, she's 5'2.5 and has a very similar body shape to mine, so I think she's a great fitness role model for me.

She's funny, has amazing style and now a wicked bod -- she's really the whole package.

Anyone close to me will tell you that I've been turning into a bit of a health nut over the past year and just recently really started to take my fitness routine to the next level!

Like many petites I never had a hard time staying thin, but I've never really been strong or had great endurance.

Over the past year I've realized that to achieve optimal health that leaves you looking and feeling great you need to have all three bases covered:

Like most people, I dabbled with all three here and there, but was never really committed or has a concrete plan.

Thanks to my friend Leanne at HealthyGirl I have managed to really step it up a few notches, bit by bit over the past while.

Everyone's health journey starts somewhere, as Kelly would agree. She started feeling tired just playing with the kids at the park so she started to walk on the treadmill, then she started jogging, then running outside, then a personal trainer and so on.

For me it started by incorporating one yoga class a week and slowly building from there, now I love it and feel amazing!

Check out her workout that you can try at home or your nearest gym:

Here's Kelly with a slew of stiletto-wearing women to take part in the Live with Regis and Kelly High Heel-a-Thon benefiting the March of Dimes. We just hope this won't inspire women to think it's okay to wear sneakers with their business suits.

  3. Do an activity this week that inspires you and makes you happy
  4. Drink green tea every day this week

  7. Enjoy your sense self-preserving skincare each day (so healthy for you!)
  8. Detox your house from chemical cleaning products and replace with healthy green options
  9. Detox your kitchen from white flours and refined sugars
  10. Spend at least 20 minutes outside each day (take a walk each day)
  11. Optimal health requires: air, water, sun & light. Are you missing any?
